CPU stable at 4.7ghz @1.452V

Or is this an APU? If it's an APU then ignore HWinfo and HWmonitor bnand use just overdrive, the thermal margin is the only way to measure APU temps IIRC.

Its 860K so it is technically a APU and I have heard and seen screenshots of the same thing happening with the FX series before. What is your thermal margin under load and the temperature according to HWInfo/HWMonitor?.

Urm not sure, never tried it, my temps are pretty accurate with HWinfo 64 and I just use the graphs built in to it to keep an eye on things. You're best just using AMD Overdrive.

That seems REALLY exceedingly high voltage.. On the FX9590?

 

guys, amd cpus run on higher voltages than intel...

Lower it until it becomes unstable. Running a needlessly high voltage does not benefit you or the cpu.

 

I'm not aware on normal voltages for AMD cpu's so that may be normal...

 

Yeah those are normal volts for AMD. Anything past 1.55V is a no-no

I can say this was most certainly the case for me. I helped my bro put an office computer together for him last September and I almost shit myself when the CPU (not socket) was reading over 50C at idle on the desktop according to HWmonitor (7850k). This was even using a heatpipe style FX cooler (why not, free upgrade from my 8320). Installed overdrive and that was reading like 50C of thermal margin! The cooler was not warm to the touch either so we knew HWmonitor was not reporting that value correctly. HWinfo did not work either, Overdrive was the only one reporting the right numbers.
