Usually in the boot menu if you see settings for Boot Mode make sure it's on legacy or taken off of Fastmode. Some laptop have this not all though.

ya it dosent have that i looked in every option. does that mean i cant install different versions of windows or things like that?

What is does it ignore the USB ports for a bootable drive on the laptop even on USB 2.0 ports had that happen before. If it doesn't have it then that is going to be an issue...

If your laptop has a built in drive that should work, it sounds almost like you might have a bad copy of the Windows installer, maybe try another source. Does the laptop just not recognize there is a disk there or see the bootable.

How old is your laptop they don't come with a copy of Windows anymore it's been years since I've seen one, usually it's just the basic drivers on those discs.

EDIT: Didn't read the post clearly about installing Ubuntu, but as Equinox said you don't have the drivers.
