another help me decide 980 ti

hi need help deciding what is best. i have the classified ordered but have 24 more hours to cancel and change.

i have to use walmart for purchase since i will be utilizing gift cards.

i don't overclock just plug it in and use.

iI haven't had any experience with any brand other than EVGA and this will be the last card i buy for quite some time.

i don't mind spending a little more if there will ever be a noticeable gain in performance (gaming not benchmarking) in games for the next couple of years.

 

is the classified or hybrid worth the extra cash ?

here's a list of the models i have to choose from what would you buy and why ?

i know very little about overclocking ,but i thought the whole reason to buy a classified is that its already overclocked so you dont have to.

i thought also if you were seriously going to overclock you would get a higher overclock out of a base or reference card than you would out of a classified

no theres also Zotac ZT-90503-10P ,Zotac ZT-90501-10P

 

Hybrid, you'll never hear it. I love mine.

so far thats what im thinking of getting , but i have a big air coller in the way and not sure if the tubes will be a problem

I have a GTX 980 Hybrid and I wanna recommend it but there is a serious drawback in that the watercooler does nothing for the VRMs and VRAM. So I would recommend the regular EVGA ACX gpu over the Hybrid because it's cheaper and does a better job cooling the overall board. 

 

FYI no matter what card you get, you will want to manually overclock it for the max performance.

its always good to hear from someone that actually has one. i am probably just gonna keep the classified and for the first time dabble in overclocking. reading all night about overclocking now piqued my interest

I love my 980 g1, but the 980 ti is a lot hotter running so it'll be a lot louder.

I'd proably go msi gaming.

That's why the card keeps the blower fan.. It's there to cool the vrm's and power delivery.

so you guys are in a disagreement. bomerr says it has cooling issues and X99stattrak your saying it doesn't  anyone else care to comment

 

 i kind of wanted the hybrid ,but until someone else chimes in on if there is any sort of cooling issues i'm leaning towards the classified or msi gaming

That's why the card keeps the blower fan.. It's there to cool the vrm's and power delivery.

The blower fan is part of the problem. By stock bios the fan is set to ramp up with the core temp. But because the water block drops the core temps substantially, the fan won't ramps up enough to cool the VRMs. So the VRMs will be blazing hot. I got around this problem by changing the fan profile in afterburner; I am using 60% speed at 60C. But then again that kinda sucks because I bought the hybrid to reduce system noise and here I am increasing the fan speed. 

 

I'm okay with the hybrid because it's better than reference but in the future I would go either ACX or most likely EK water block. 

 

 

its always good to hear from someone that actually has one. i am probably just gonna keep the classified and for the first time dabble in overclocking. reading all night about overclocking now piqued my interest

All the blower fan has to do is pull air through the card. As long as there is fresh air coming over the VRM's it's just like you had the fan going faster. I'm pushing my card absolutely as hard as it'll run with max voltage and a max OC of 1503, and have yet to have my VRM heat cause my OC to fail.

is there any way to test the vrm heat of hybrids i would love to hear more for owners if this is really an issue .

msi g6 gaming (only negative reviews ive seen are runs hotter than other cards and random ctd again these are just what ive read)

zotac amp extremw(i like the card just worried about reviews of customer support and website not functioning claim when rma'ing)

hybrid's (argument in this thread saying may cause excessive vrm heat needs more input than 1 againts 1 ,other than that i want the hybrid)

evga (i have alot of faith in evga just seems all there cards have lower clock rates even on the non reference)

 

i will have to live with this card for years so i still haven't made up my mind

p.s i canceled my classified order and not ordering anything till i hear more on this hybrid issue
