New Monitor

Go to solution Solved by GoodBytes,

Get the Dell U2312HM.

 -> IPS panels (LG eIPS 6-bit), allowing you to get much better color reproduction over TN, improved sharpness, and 178 degree view angle, allowing you to see perfectly your screen no mater where and how you sit (as long as you are in front of the screen, of course)

 -> 1920x1080, 23inch.

 -> The monitor is fully adjustable, with a solid base that won't wobble as you breath

 -> The monitor features: DVI, VGA and DisplayPort ports

 -> Great for gaming, with a low input lag, and fast actual (not rubbish measurements on the box from manufactures) response time (http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/29257-how-noticable-is-response-time/?p=372554)

 -> Easy on screen menu navigation

 -> Non glossy, allowing you to focus on your work, or gaming, and not fighting reflections

 -> Monitor comes with a 3 year warranty, and a 0 bright/stuck pixel warranty, with no zones or distance policy crap. For dead pixel, it's a competitive 6 dead pixel or more policy, with no zones or distance crap to not cover you.

Only £161.08 Inc VAT at Scans - http://www.scan.co.uk/products/23-dell-ultrasharp-u2312hm-led-ips-monitor-full-hd-dvi-vga-displayport-1920x1080-10001-300cd-m2-8ms-

Just make sure you don't have rev A00, which was a period where LG had production problem. I think we are A06 revision... I doubt you'll still find A00, but worth mentioning,

If you don't mind paying 15 pounds more over your budget, you have the Dell U2412M, which is the same as above, but is 24inch, 1920x1200, 16:10.

The extra height is great for multitasking, and using the monitor for work. The extra height, allows to "compensate" for the task bar, menu bars, top tool bars, and so on, allowing you have to a larger work area. As the width the same, 1080p videos won't be stretch height wise, so you don't have to worry about that, you'll have small thin black bars at the top and bottom. But as it's an IPS panel, you won't noticeable back light bleeding, especially not visible if the screen has content displayed, unlike TN panels. So it will feel like it's part of the frame.

Hello Users,

I want to purchase a monitor for under £200. Not really fussed with the brand but need a decent monitor for both photo editing and light gaming.

Thanks

should get a tv. more inputs. + sound

The input lag is very bad on tvs compared to monitors and you can have more varitaion in inputs with a pc(vga, dvi, hdmi, and display port). The speakers they have on tv aren't usually all that great anyways unless you get an expensive one.
