Do the research...

Why do you want to?

What are your goals?

You could prob do better with less money involved.

More info is NEEDED, we don't know your situation of wants/needs.... explain what you do with your PC.

Then why ask if you should...

I'd rather 2x 980Ti's if I had blow-money.

Yes sure go for it. Won´t be as good as a highend GTX980Ti such as the Classified from EVGA without custom water cooling and modded BIOS but if you need epeen ;).

Listen to this guy.

Why the hell do you want a Titan X???? It performs almost identical to the 980TI but much cheaper. The 12GB of RAM cannot be used at the moment, so there is no point in spending more unless you want bragging rights for a few months.

Then ignore the peasants, own a Titan X.

Don't encourage him to get a Titan X, he may want one but there aren't any benefits to having one?

You could get even more for the price of one Titan X. (Bigger/Faster SSD or even better peripherals.

No one even mentioned a 390...?

We are not saying he CAN'T, we are saying he shouldn't.

Cos you can do better performance VS the price.

980Ti would be overall a better buy for his needs IMO.

Given that you're asking this question... No.

Get a 980 Ti.

If you really have the money to get a Titan X, grab two 980 Ti for SLI. Make sure your motherboard and PSU supports SLI though.

I don't get what you're saying??

I said it has 12GB instead of the 6GB, but tell me what game needs that much VRAM and is worth spending a lot more for?

When did I talk about a 390 anyway?

I would buy a 980ti the titan x really doesn't make much sense ever since the 980ti released.

I run my own indie game company called Color Dragon Studios where we are currently making a 2d platformer game called Small Earth.

Everybody should own a Titan X, I think that would make nVidia very happy :P.

This forum constantly tells people to buy a 390 over a 970 because the 390 has twice as much VRAM.

The Titan X has twice as much VRAM as the 980ti.

So by the logic of this forum the Titan X should be purchased by the OP.

End topic

Oh.... I see what you mean...

Although, this is a different situation.

Some games such as Shadow Of Mordor can saturate up to 6GB of RAM, therefore running 4K/Surround a 970 isn't practical due to the 4/3.5GB of RAM.

While, the 980TI has 6GB of RAM and the Titan X has 12 where the 12GB cannot be saturated by any game that is out currently.

Video is 6 months old, consider that performance may be better with driver improvements.

But..

Using MY countries pricing...$1000'ish vs $1500'ish for a few SINGLE digit FPS gains in the game you want (regardless of Vram, but the performance metrics)

I'll take the 980Ti

TitanX - https://au.pcpartpicker.com/part/gigabyte-video-card-gvntitanxd512gdb

980Ti - https://au.pcpartpicker.com/part/msi-video-card-gtx980tigaming6g

Maximums - Asus Z97-K /w i5 4690 Bclk @106.9Mhz * x39 = 4.17Ghz, 8GB of 2600Mhz DDR3,.. Gigabyte GTX970 G1-Gaming @ 1550Mhz
