I've read about them, I've seen people using them, but what can be done with a modded bios?

I've got a MSI 390X, are there any guides to doing things with a modded bios/how to do it? Also, I read that you can screw up the card by losing power when flashing the bios. I know my Motherboard features a dual-bios in case something goes wrong there, does my GPU have this?

There aren't any BIOSes for the 390X/AMD cards. It's more a Nvidia thing.

isn't that it?

or is that something completely different (i found it quickly with a quick google search)

Yes, but that is seriously complicated and can easily damage your card. It's not worth the extra 5-10 FPS.

It's not like Nvidia's where people have uploaded BIOS files, and can use CMD prompt to flash the GPU.

It is similar way to flash an AMD GPU vBIOS.

I've done it on my Vapor-X HD 7970 card (in my AMD system), and the Vapor-X HD 7950 (that is in my Intel system).

@suchamoneypit

Have a go through the vBIOS database ...

https://www.techpowerup.com/vgabios/

As far as how to flash the vBIOS on your GPU, you will have to find that out yourself.

I am not being liable for a corrupted or damaged graphics card...neither am I promoting the action.

you can update your gpu's bios, and that would give better performance and more stability, maybe better overclock capability too. but modded are a bit dangerous especially for AMD, yes you can use a modded bios those few hacks may unlock some extra power but it still too risky even with nvidia cards and the 700 series which have a tons of hacked bios, some to unlock voltages and some for extra overclock, some people just killed their cards. it would be better if you just upgrade your bios to the newest version. and btw an r9 390x is really powerful you don't need that little extra power.

here is a link for r9 390x bios  https://www.techpowerup.com/vgabios/index.php?architecture=&manufacturer=&model=R9+390X&interface=&memType=&memSize=
