Posted January 1, 2016 I just built my PC and when I plugged it into the monitor, my monitor was tinted red. So I thought I just had to install the GPU drivers (I have a 980). After installing windows, I installed my GPU drivers but after I downloaded the drivers for my GPU, my screen was still tinted red... I have already tested it with another monitor and the same problem occurred - used a different cable but same the VGA to DVI-I adapter. Checked my monitor settings and my Nvidia Control Panel settings and everything seems to look fine. I didn't download any of the motherboard's drivers (Maximus VII Gene) yet so that might be the problem? I made sure I screwed the cables in so the cables are not loose. Also for some reason the red tint doesn't affect blue, blue and red should make a purplish color but the blue stays blue. Thanks in advance
Posted January 1, 2016 i know just the thing for you. if you have intel display drivers installed. right click on your desktop, go to graphics properties, display, color settings and restore to default. EDIT: or its your cable dieding "Try not to take things personally; what people say about you on the internet is a reflection of them, not you!" Posted January 1, 2016 That's a problem with the VGA connection. Most likely the cable is dead. This happens because VGA uses an analog signal and if one of the connections for the three different colours isn't connected properly your screen simply turns into a different colour.I would replace your cable first. Maybe also try a digital connection like DVI-D, HDMI or DisplayPort.

Posted January 1, 2016 Yup, we also have that in school on some computers it's the vga cable or the connection somewhere. Try unplugging it and plugging it in again ( works most of the time )

Posted January 1, 2016 Probably... I have a HDMI cable but my monitor doesn't support HDMI so I'm gonna have to buy a HDMI to VGA adapter or a HDMI to DVI-D(Dual link) adapter. An HDMI to VGA adapter doesn't exist. You'll need a converter, but those can be a bit expensive and aren't reliable. So I would rather recommend to stick to a digital signal and use the HDMI to DVI-D adapter.
 Posted January 1, 2016 Was going to say it will be the cable but as you have changed that it is very unlikely . Instead it is probably a bent pin on the VGA port or on the adapter. Simply put the situation can be thought of as each of the colours are carried on a different pin one of the pins (yellow?) has been bent or destroyed or... try a visual inspection to see if you can see one pin bent out of the way. Try fixing it or replace the adapter if the bent pin is on the monitor and you cant fix it maybe have the whole input replaced.
