When I was younger I was a total Fifa fanatic, and now their community has gone bad and I don't really like EA anymore nor do i like origin.

And I love playing battlefront at my friends but I really want to play it for myself.

Anyways.. I was wondering if Origin (EA Whatever..) will sell battlefront to steam and release there?

They're not being dicks in this regard. They have their own platform where they can make the most profit off of, so they're going to sell it through Origin exclusively.

Starting Origin was kind of a dick move because they tried to compete with the biggest and still growing online game distribution system.  EA just doesn't release enough titles on Origin to compete with steam.  In theory, Origin is a great idea.  A distribution system that sells exclusive games.  But it just doesn't work.  The only games that people buy on Origin are NFS, Battlefield, and BF4.  Steam has Witcher 3, CSGO, ROcket League, GTA V, etc.  Basically, EA is taking a little profit from Steam.

EA provides a superior service in comparison to Valve. If I could get all of my games moved over to Origin, I would say fuck Steam and that would be the end of it.

Everyone likes to joke (or sometimes be completely serious... for some reason...) and say "all hail Gabe Newell" or some shit, yet they give Valve a pass for not ever offering customer support. Just like this last fuck up they had a couple days ago, people were automatically thinking Steam got hacked. Nah, it was Valve's own doing.

Valve doesn't need any more money. They don't know how to spend it, and that's the truth.

Yes I agree that Valve is a giant pile of shit but we haven't really seen how EA handles thousands of users trying to access its servers at the same time.

Yes Valve customer service is poop but the fact that all the games are there and you can connect easily makes it popular.

EA is dick in the sense that DA 1 & 2, ME 1 & 2, and BF 1 & 2 are all on steam but the final installments are Origin exclusive...WHY!?!?!?

What do you mean? I'm pretty sure they have tons and ton of people logged in to Origin all at the same time.

Because they came out at a time where they had their service up and running. Why would they want to pay Valve a percentage when they'll make more profit on their own platform?

Don't argue that CDPR still sells Witcher 3 on Steam even though it's on GoG. They can do what they want, but they still have to pay Valve a percentage. That's their prerogative, as is EA's.

I just think if people are going to shit on EA, let it be something legit and not something about their newer games not being on Steam.

You rather have me shit on their day one DLC policy and expansions that cost 2x price of the game? The crap subscription service? I could (people can argue both are/are not legit complaints) but I decided to shit on the fact that instead of being decent and practicing smart business by letting the final installments of popular franchises come out on multiple distributors (not just for fans but also for extra profit for them). Makes sense.

I don't care if their new releases are origin only but those 3 titles (and prob other not as popular series) are incomplete on steam now.

Not if service includes the respective clients, store organization, community portals, and downloading. The Steam client is light years ahead of the Origin client.

Now that Steam offers an automated product return system that doesn't involve contacting their customer support, that area of their service is also arguably the better one.

Light years? Please. Origin has all of the stuff that normal people actually use.

You can do the same on Origin for refunds; It is also automated. The thing about Origin, though, is that they actually have a customer support team. Valve doesn't.

How do you estimate what people normally use? What about Family Sharing, Small Mode, Big Picture Mode, Steam Inventory, Steam Market, Broadcasts, Steam Groups... what are those things in Origin? Many normal people use those things daily, and there's still lots more.

None of new EA games will be on Steam. Origin is EAs competitor for Valves Steam. Its just platform, not distributer, publisher or game studio.

Nope.  EA is a dick.

You are assuming much and providing little evidence other than your own opinions. There are two facts why EA moved their games to be Origin exclusives. Origin was present before change in that policy was even done. They just got massive user boost (and hate because of that) when AAA titles like BF3 came. Now to those two points.

1. Updates. Steam uses same kind of QA that XB Live and PSN do. Except its as slow as their customer support. There waas time when EA/DICE were getting bad rep because updates on Steam games were slow. Consoles and Origin got all updates up to week before Steam. This was BFBC2 time.

2. Money. Yes, I know. But its not like you said it. Valve takes 30% of all revenue. For games like BF and CoD that means price is higher in Steam than what it would be for physical discs and other digital copies. Sure prices are still high on Steam, but think how high they would be if those games would still be sold on Steam.

I really don't understand rest of your points. In terms of features Origin is quite good. Steam hasn't been this feature rich always. Its been around since early 2000s, Origin just half of that. You can't assume that Origin should be in par with something thats had time to develop features that are irrelevant when EAs most needed improvements have been in customer support.

Valve doesn't do their own QA for patches for games on their service. GoG does, but Steam / Valve doesn't. As far as I'm aware, there isn't a history of Steam receiving patches later than other services, and Steam typically receives patches quickly. Any QA done on EA games on Steam will be handled by EA, and not Valve.

Valve's 30% cut from sales is less than the cost to sell a physical copy game in a store. Also, Microsoft and Sony both take a fee for every game sold on their systems. Then there's transportation costs, retail store costs... before Steam, it was normal for a PC game developer to keep, in very good scenarios, perhaps only 10% of the profits of their games sold. With Steam, they get to keep up to 70%, if they don't involve another publisher. Steam turned the health of the PC games industry around.

Prices are not higher on Steam due to Steam's cut, which has set the standard for the digital PC games industry, and before EA started doing Origin exclusives, prices were not cheaper on Origin compared to Steam - at times they were actually higher.
