960 SLI VS 980

micko12400
Go to solution Solved by Nishizumi,

980.

Actually get this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814202187&cm_re=r9_fury_nitro-_-14-202-187-_-Product

Rapes the 980 since it's a custom PCB Fury and it's cheaper.

This. I can vouch for the performance of the Fury. But if you want Nvidia, like you asked, go for the 980. Don't go for an SLI (or XFire) setup using two mid-end cards. It's best to go with the best card you can fit into your budget since you won't have to worry about microstuttering and the struggle when a game doesn't have a profile. Plus you can get a second one in the future for more perf in needed.

i need to get a graphics card for my upcoming build and wondering if i should get

Two 960 OC's and run them in SLI or if i should get a 980.

Okay mate, I think they understand the question. Regardless of either of the answers, there is a better option.

So I guess my question to you is, how does that make them a fanboy?

Also OP, get the Fury you we're recommended.

my problem is the op may want nvidia because he preferss it.. and thats why he specifically asked for nvidia cards, so when people recommend an amd card it doesnt help him...

How do you know OP prefers it? Maybe he wasn't aware of the frankly fucking amazing deal on that Fury. Giving someone an alternate path doesn't make them you a fanboy.
