Can a bad HDD cause frame drops and stutters?

So I just got my shiny new gpu from team yellow. And with that new cool fps i started to notice frequend frame drops when flitching my head and driving fast. I play GTA 5 and the witcher 3. My hdd is 5 years old. One more question: Will deFragging help?

No. Storage does not affect framerates and other in-game performance-centric variables.

Storage can only affect load times.

It can cause lags if its super old like 5 years and dont defrag but buy new one if you can

EDIT: then The Official Czex is right

Try that, Run ccleaner and just get rid of random stuff that you dont need. Try updating your GPU drivers as well, worth a try. Merry Christmas!

A slow drive can indeed cause hitching.

Not true. It can cause stuttering. I´ve tried this in testing different storage solutions. Run a game of a WD Green and you´ll get stuttering. It doesn´t affect the FPS itself, but the game will definitely stutter.
