Best headphones for around $130

Go to solution Solved by LibeRatioNZzXx,

You can get a cheap adapter if you need a trrs connection as opposed to dual trs:

Thanks for that, just what I'm looking for!

Oh wait. Sorry, forgot about the gaming part. The Steelseries Siberia V2 are amazing for the money. I would say go with them.

Yeah I think I'm going to go with them, thanks for the help everyone!

I'm looking for a new pair of headphones to replace my recently deceased Astro A30's. My budget is around the equivalent of US so anything around that will probably be in my UK budget of £100, doesn't have to be precisely that though as I do have more to spare but it will have to be worth it! I've still got the MixAmp so a headphone amp isn't necessary.I would prefer one with a built in microphone as I do game with friends.

Also if it is possible, one that has a microphone and headphone combi in one 3.5mm jack. Not sure if its possible for cross-compatibility but my current one has this and I presume the solution is the same. I want this to use my Mixamps feature of having a cable output to plugin to my xbox controller as I do still play the occasional game on it. That's not a necessity though as I could make-shift a solution.

They need to be comfortable as well as I am used to having A30's which are so comfortable I stop noticing them after a while.

I was having a look at the Steel Series Siberia V2's but if you think there is something better please tell me, or tell me if you have had an experience with the Steelseries ones.

Thanks in advance!

These are excellent and at one time costed as much as Audio-Technica ATH M50s. They sound better and look nice as well.

I'm just checking, but you are recommending these for gaming right?

You could still use ATH M50s for gaming. It just doesn't have a mic. But you can always get a mod mic anyways.

Like... you're looking for a headset with one of those in-line mics and the 3-notch 3.5 jacks?

Yeah, but that's not necessary it'd just be much more useful for me, or would adapting a 3.5mm microphone to 2.5mm work? It's only a one notch input though on the adapter cable

For a bit of a step up, you could get the K551 - http://www.amazon.co.uk/Reference-Class-Over-Ear-Headphones-In-Line-Microphone/dp/B008T9RI90/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics-accessories&ie=UTF8&qid=1377809882&sr=1-1&keywords=headphones+inline

We get an Amazing deal on them at the moment in the UK so i think it would be more than worth the extra £30, give them a look.

I know having an integrated mic sounds nifty, but you end up paying out the arse for it when compared to similar sounding headphones.

I'd checkout Audiotechnica's ATH-AD700 on Amazon. Super comfy, great soundstage, but supposedly lacking in boomy bass(I think the internet exaggerates abut on this point). For a mic, the Zalman Clip-on should be available cheaply on Amazon as well. You could always wrap the cords together with heatshrink or cable sleeving if in becomes a nuisance.

Hmm... well I recently found and bought a Logitech UE6000 at Best Buy for $100 during their clearance thing. Soundstage is decent for a pair of sealed headphones and it comes with a replaceable in-line mic cord. Might not be the best for gaming (I use them as a pair of portable cans for school and stuff), but it's a good deal compared to the previously mentioned Philips Uptowns if you want to check them out.

Otherwise Steelseries makes a few headsets that comes in a 3-notch thing for like the smartphones and stuff, no?
