ENCODING

- Dont use CBR

- Set Max Bitrate to 1000

- Use Custom Buffer Size and set it to 0

- Quality Balance (try to play with that but start with 6 and see how it goes for you if you get good performance try to increase it)

ADVANCED

- Process Priority Class set to Normal or Above Normal (the higher the value the more resources from your CPU will go into recording)

- x264 CPU Preset set to veryfast

- Encoding Profile set to main

- Uncheck Use CFR

- Check Custom x264 Encoder Settings and type in this crf="number" ("number" the lower the number the higher the quality (set it to 20 initialy and check if you get good performance ... the higher the number the more pixelation on your recordings).

I'm having some issues with OBS, there is a lot of pixelation. Also it says it's at 30fps however it looks much more choppy.

I'm recording not streaming

I usually upload videos while I sleep so as long as it doesn't take more then 8 hours I"m fine with huge file sizes.

You should downscale that. OR even change the CPU preset. I set mine to fast since i have a GOOD cpu COOLER. It will stress your CPU alot more. But the quality will look a lot more "clear"

You're saving to local files? Then you should put it wayyyy higher than 1500 bitrate. Put it at like 10000

Wouldn't that make the files ungodly large

That bitrate is waaaaaaay too small.

I stream at 4500 kbit for a 720p@30fps.

When i record at 1080p@60fps you should be looking for a bitrate of around 20000 kbit/s for mid-high quality recording. Youd ont wanna go over 30000 kbit though.

Planning on trying StarCitizen (Highly recommended)? STAR-NR5P-CJFR is my referal link

I'll try out 4500, is it different for recording?

I don't think it would make *that* big of a difference

Of course it is, but if you plan on uploading quality footage, you need this file sizes. ive seen 1080p@60fps of up to 65Mbit/s, it is way overkill and it was the "pure" footage, once you pass a minimal encoding you can decrease that a lot.

Also, with your GTX 660 you should be able to use NVENC to record (Its Nvidia shadowplay), it will decrease the impact on performance while you record.

Edit: Also, yes, stream quality is crappy compared to recording one.

With those settings it's not even showing the video after it exports, just audio

Weird. I record like that with no problems. I edited my previous post with pictures. Try check it out.

EDIT:

did you have your SCENE set properly?

The scene is fine, I kept the quotes on the crf=

wtf, you record 1080p at 1000 bitrate?

Doesent matter when you use custom x264 encoder settings.
