So I work at an elementary school (sort of, intern, only temporary).

Today in the hall somewhere I found what seems to be a new ramstick just laying on the ground. I asked where it came from and was told something vague about some engineers coming in, told me to keep it if I want it.

So we can see they are HP and branded with a Security ID sticker. It's 2GB. Would this work in any computer? I googled a bit and found out maybe it's proprietary somehow? Or the security ID branding tells us it can't be used? Anybody have any idea?

 

EDIT: It worked, have 2 extra GB now :D

Looks like a stick of Micron memory from an HP system. Either it's from a pre-built HP or from a server. Lemme dig a bit

Work? Probably. but it would make your 1600MHz G.Skill sticks run at 1333, which nobody wants and you wouldn't benefit from the extra 2 gigs anyway

Actually, they'd benefit more from the extra RAM than the small data rate decrease.
