"Cheap" Mechanical or "Expensive" normal Keyboard?

What would be better for someone who mainly (order of quantity):

 

- Codes

- Writes papers

- Games (FPS and RPG)

 

For instance:

- Rapoo V700 or Corsair Raptor K30?

 

For specific advice, I live in the Netherlands and the Rapoo is actually the cheapest I can find (€70).

Roccat Ryos MX should be a relatively cheap, gaming mechanical keyboard.

A: If you didn't click a sketchy email, haven't left your computer physically open to attack, haven't downloaded anything sketchy/free, know that your software hasn't been exploited in a new hack, then the answer is: probably not.

 

Q: What email/VPN should I use?
A: Proton mail and VPN are the best for email and VPNs respectively. (They're free in a good way)

 

Q: How can I stay anonymous on the (deep/dark) webzz???....

A: By learning how to de-anonymize everyone else; if you can do that, then you know what to do for yourself.

 

Q: What Linux distro is best for x y z?

A: Lubuntu for things with little processing power, Ubuntu for normal PCs, and if you need to do anything else then it's best if you do the research yourself.

 

Q: Why is my Linux giving me x y z error?

A: Have you not googled it? Are you sure StackOverflow doesn't have an answer? Does the error tell you what's wrong? If the answer is no to all of those, message me.

I'd get a mechanical keyboard. what's the point in spending a lot of money on a membrane keyboard.

mechanical. one of the best kbs for the money is the cm storm series. they are very cheap but still good quality and use cherry switches

well mechanical is definitely better soooo

Cheap mechanical. Expensive membranes aren't worth it IMO.

Should've mentioned, an "expensive" regular keyboard is about half of a "cheap" mechanical keyboard.

Expensive membrane keyboards are only expensive because of marketing and gimmicks. Mechanical keyboards actually have value, and they will last far, far longer.

Expensive membrane keyboards don't make sense. You're just paying for them to tack on features that are next to useless in an effort to see how far they can push the prices.

 

Mechanical keyboards have been in preference for people who do mostly typing for a long, long time. Writing a lot was a key element in me personally getting a mechanical keyboard. Also, with a mechanical keyboard, you really should ignore the price unless you're comparing two identical products. Mechanical keyboards are extremely durable and there's excellent support for breaking pretty much anything on the keyboard short of the LEDs.

 

I got my current mechanical keyboard over 2 years ago and I pretty much got the cheapest thing I could find. The keyboard still works perfectly, the only way you can tell it's seen use is the wear on the keycaps. Sadly, my choice of keyboard, coupled with being from a Nordic country limits my options for replacing keycaps to basically one brand. Ftr, I got a SteelSeries 6Gv2.

I own and use, sorted from newest to oldest: SteelSeries 6Gv2. Microsoft SideWinder X4. Mionix Naos 7000. Zowie EC1 Evo. Microsoft SideWinder X8. Microsoft IntelliMouse Explorer 3.0. Dell U2414H. Samsung P2270H. AKG K273 Pro. Sennheiser HD555. Razer Goliathus Speed Medium. Func 1030 L. Qpad CT Medium.

I used to own: Razer DeathAdder 3G. Razer Krait. IntelliMouse Optical 1.1. SteelSeries QcK.

Pretty sure JayzTwoCents just did a review of a super cheap mechanical keyboard, I can't remember what it was called but it was like $60 USD
