My CPU is constantly at 100% utilization. I have done some research and seen that some solutions may include reinstalling Windows. Many online conclude that this could be a mining virus but I really have no way of knowing.

If anyone knows a better way to fix this lemme know, IF NOT:

Will reinstalling Windows without deleting any of my data fix this problem or would I have to delete all of my data to totally solve the problem?

Any help is appreciated, thank you.

Is there a process in Task Manager using 100% of the CPU?

In my experience, it is more often bugged software (especially stuff like Windows defender or updates) than it is mining, but if that's the case, you'd be able to spot the process with task manager.

I have attached my top task manger tasks above. They jump around like crazy. Like I don't even have file explorer open but it is using over 10%

To be clear, are you saying that the CPU is always running at 100 clock, or that you're using 100% of the CPU?

If you mean the clock, I'd try turning off iCue, RGB software is notorious for being buggy and using too many system resources..

Can you show your overall reported usage too? Based on what's currently shown, you would have 74.6% usage, but some of that is clearly because you're using certain applications(Task Manager is currently using 14.6% for example). So far, it doesn't seem like it's related to any kind of malware. Just bloatware, and normal usage.

^this

Its not unusual to have high CPU usage when idle, as only one core is awake and clocked really slow.

I just checked one of my PCs and Task manager was 15-20% CPU when the CPU was idle, but dropped to 0.5-2% once another task caused the CPU to boost.

maybe your cpu is overheating?  what are the temps?

just for your information things like icue shouldn't use that many resources at all...

neither should chrome when its "suspended"... there's clearly something wrong with your system but it seems to me we need more info here, also please post full screenshots instead of these small cropped ones.

none of these things should use that much cpu:

compare that to my usage of basically the same applications above,  i don't think this is bloatware, its more likely something is overheating tremendously, some weird settings (that's hard to determine obviously) possibly bad overclocks, or most likely, imho, malware.

Would recommend to run full malwarebytes scan including rootkit scan on all attached drives first thing.

If you're running in excess of 4GHz at 100% utilization, then it looks like there's some malware in Chrome. It shouldn't be using 50% of a 5800x even at base clock.

I'd check your Extensions in Chrome.

If you click on the dropdown arrow where Chrome is at, what do the individual processes show for usage?

I don't know thats its chrome. If chrome is closed something else is using an excessive amount

wallpaper32, autodesk, acrobat, solidworks. Did you get those applications legit or are they not legit? Potentially malware?

Show core speeds in Ryzen Master.

Show core utilization while that task manager screenshot is taken.

Basically show one screen of all core data and tasks at the same time.
