So I recently upgraded my CPU, Motherboard and RAM and now my system wont power down with windows. When I attempt to shut down I click "shut Down" then windows goes into its typical shut down and the monitor shut off and shows  "no signal" but my PC is still on, my fans are still running, lights on, HDD still spinning etc. The only way to power off my system is to click the on/off power button on the front of my case.

Have you tried turning it off and on again

try turning off "Fast Startup"  and see what happens

control panel > hardware and sound > power options > system settings

Can't find this option....

this should walk you through how to disable it

http://winaero.com/blog/how-to-disable-or-enable-fast-startup-in-windows-8-1/

note: you can also open the Run menu and type "shutdown /p" which will effectively do the same thing, but will only disable it for a single shutdown.

Is it possible you have your bios set to go into a standby state? The bios usually overrides windows on those sort of things.

Hmm, ill go check, thought it might be related to the bios. But the thing is that windows shuts down, there is no input to my monitor after I turn it off just my pc is running.

I remember a long time ago whenever I hit shut down, my computer would restart instead. Changing a value in the registry helped for a while but the problem came back. Finally fixed it with a fresh Windows install.

@Sincostan Do a clean install of Windows... It should fix all problems, including ones you haven't noticed yet. I'd personally always do a fresh install on new hardware...

Yes, that is not the problem as my PC powers on and off just fine with the power button on my case. The problem only happens when I use windows to turn my PC off.

Always do a clean install of windows... ALWAYS.

Will try it. Just waiting to get a new SSD and will re install windows on to a larger SSD.

Thanks again for all the help!
