How to share WiFi through Ethernet on windows 10 home

I can't remember how to share WiFi over Ethernet, I have a Ethernet only device and want to connect to internet using my laptops WiFi. I could do it on my desktop before but that had windows 7 ultimate, now with windows 10 its hidden somewhere and I don't know where...plz halp

simplest answer is to use a router

 

other method is connection sharing in windows

I think It's Bluetooth tethering. Alternatively, you could just buy a $5 wifi usb adapter.

other method is connection sharing in windows

I would use a router but its too far away and I have no box in my room to plug it in.

sounds like you might wanna use powerline adapters

 

plug one into a wall socket next to the router

then plug the other one into a wall socket in your room..then plug the device into the adapter

Control Panel > Network and Internet > Network Connections > Right click on Wi-Fi > Sharing > Allow others to connect through

That should work.

there's a lot of different check boxes there, I don't know which to select. I tried it default and it didn't work

Did you click on Sharing at the top of the properties window?

yup, could it be because im trying to connect a ps4? my guess is that it makes no difference

Why do you need to connect a PS4 through this method? The PS4 has fairly decent WiFi

its crap, on my laptop I get 70mbps and on ps4 I get 5 and its closer to the router

How are you measuring these speeds? Because frankly I think it's highly likely the issue isn't with the connection between router and PS4.
