My friend is claiming that Arma 3 has super shitty optimization, claims he gets really bad framerates (around like ) on an fx 8650 at 4.0, MSI 390x at 1060 mhz

All textures and clouds and stuff at Ultra, PIP disabled, Participial high, HDR standard, 1200 overall disability object 925, shadows 100, 1920x1080 post processing fx disabled HDAO High, Caustics enabled, AA 4x, All trees and grass ARMA 3, Post Processing AA disabled Anisotropic Filtering 53 FPS at settings menu. Framerates start to drop at gunfights, playing in 1st person. Loaded on an SSD.

Does that sound about right to anybody?

Is this bad optimization on the developers part or just the fact that the extreme-intense A.I. *which I think is usually performed on one core anyway* is just too much for AMD processors?

The cpu optimization is very poor, and the gpu optimization is sub par. Even with my 3770k @4.7ghz I drop to around 30 in big servers.

CPU: I7 3770k @4.8 ghz | GPU: GTX 1080 FE SLI | RAM: 16gb (2x8gb) gskill sniper 1866mhz | Mobo: Asus P8Z77-V LK | PSU: Rosewill Hive 1000W | Case: Corsair 750D | Cooler:Corsair H110| Boot: 2X Kingston v300 120GB RAID 0 | Storage: 1 WD 1tb green | 2 3TB seagate Barracuda|

Disable caustics, useless feature youre probobly not going to see ever (unles you go diving)

and depending on what you play, adjust render distance accordingly (some servers have preset view distance (the "fog"))

put shadow render distance on minimum

I usually put clouds on minimum
