For two 9000 series cards? I'd just buy a single card with that budget. That price range right now is around an 7770-7850.

Setup: i5 4670k @ 4.2 Ghz, Corsair H100i Cooler, Corsair Vengeance Pro 16GB Ram @ 1600 Mhz, MSI Z87-GD65 Motherboard, Corsair GS700 2013 edition PSU, MSI GTX 770 Lightning, Samsung EVO 120 SSD + 2TB&1TB Seagate Barracudas, BenQ XL2411T Monitor, Sennheiser HD 598 Headphones + AntLion ModMic 4.0

Wait till the cards are actually released and reviewed before making plans of buying some.

He is saying he has that budget for a motherboard. Not just the 9XXX cards and the motherboard.

M5A99FX PRO R2.0 is a good board for your 8350 and for your dual card configuration.

I have to disagree, maxwell is over a year away. If you do want to go that way, I suggest selling your 660 and getting a 7970 on the cheap when the 9*** comes out, then you can wait for maxwell.

Also, don't get two 9*** cards, it's just redundant now, and will be costly.

How does this one look, it's relatively cheap: http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=3891#ov look decent as well...

EDIT: You will most definately get more performance from maxwell then from the 9*** series, but It's so far far away I just can't recommend using the 660 card for 1080p gaming until then.

Intel 4770k@4.6GHz, ASUS ROG Maximus VI Hero, Kingston HyperX Beast 2x8GB 2400MHz CL11, Gigabyte GTX 1070 Gaming, Kingston HyperX 3k 240GB - RAID0 (2x120Gb), 2xWD 1TB (Blue and Green), Corsair H100i, Corsair AX860, CoolerMaster HAF X, ASUS STRIX Tactic pro, Logitech G400S, HyperX Cloud II, Logitech X530, Acer Predator X34.

I recommend the Asus M5A99FX, that's probably the best board within your budget, if you can somehow score a 990FX Sabertooth that would be fantastic.
I bought a 990FX Sabertooth refurbed for $130 & it has been working flawlessly for me, I really love this board, the amount of functionality it offers is outstanding.

How can you make a statement like that when we have no idea how the 9000 series performs let alone Maxwell, which isn't only a year off but we don't even know if it's going to be 20nm based or not, chances are if it is 28nm it won't offer any tangible performance improvement, not only that but we know Nvidia cancelled the big Maxwell chip so there won't be a GK110 equivalent.

In any case, how thist turned into a Maxwell thread is beyond me.

To the OP, good boards for the 8350 include the 990FX UD3 from Gigabyte (make sure it's the rev 4 version) or the Asus 990FX pro board.

The MSI GD80 has some BIOS issues so I would not recommend it.

umm, project denver will utilize ARM cores on the gpu together with a gpu chip for the first time, and maxwell will be able to access system memory... also, I'm pretty sure it's not gonna be 20nm, like I said in other threads numerous times, still history teaches us that "newer is always better"

Don't continue to wait on the "next best thing" it is literally the stupidest thing you can do, because you'll never actually commit to buying anything.  Just buy a cheap 7970 and a decent board, save your money for upgrades later on when you need them

Although it's not that aparent, Ivy is still (admittingly a small bit) better than Sandy, and Haswell than Ivy, Overclocking headroom is smaller, but ICP and computing power is bigger. It is better, but not by much :)

You can't argue with Stinson's ONLY rule:

Maxwell is arriving Q1 and i think that it is worth to wait, because 9xxx series(CoolBeans)  have huge TDP.
