How long would it usually take before the GPU dies?

I am wondering about it because 1 PC Part shop in my country is offering a used Sapphire R9 280x for around $120.. (Design not specified).

It doesnt come with a box, just the GPU. They will give 7days warranty.

Just for the record of comparison a Brand New R9 380 4GB costs $225 here.

I have 3 additional questions..

1.) Is this worthy of purchase?

2.) And about the Distributor Warranty, does this still have it?

3.) And if Distributor Warranty is still active, can I claim the warranty if I only have the GPU / No Box? (in-case something went wrong).

I hope you can share your opinion with all of my questions.

EDIT: In-case you think it's worthy of purchase, what can I do to test if it'll be good for years?

7 day warranty is not enough do not do it

I have had to RMA alot of things and they all died AFTER 6 months

and Sapphire will not give you a warranty because you do not have the original retail reciept

Thats that. If you need to get in touch chances are you can find someone that knows me that can get in touch.

As a side note Sapphire have given me great service in the past, I didn't show the original receipt, however it was RMA'd (RIP 9800 pro @XT) through the original retailer

If that's true this answers my questions 2 & 3..

at the very least they should be able to stress test it for you, if the results look ok, its your choice.

How can I stress test it in their place? And if it passed the stress test do you think it can last for few years?

As a side note Sapphire have given me great service in the past, I didn't show the original receipt, however it was RMA'd (RIP 9800 pro @XT) through the original retailer

That's good to hear I'll try to ask that with the retailer if they will process RMA with Sapphire in-case something goes wrong..

I see. Thanks for the response.. How long have you been using 7970?

Little over half a year, or before the R9 300 series came out.. haha. I haven't had it forever.

And 1. It is a no. If it was from MSI then it could have been a yes.

get them to install kombustor and run it. And no that is not a garuntee.

They would still need the original receipt which I would bet they dont.

Thats that. If you need to get in touch chances are you can find someone that knows me that can get in touch.

Well I just assumed 7 days because that's what they usually give. They just said they will give clearance warranty.

7 days is too little - 3 months would've been fine since it's standard.

Look at EVGA's B-stock - those have a 1-year warranty

So there's no way for me to test and judge if it'll last w/ good amount of time in just 7 days?

1. if you need it: sure-ish. you may be able to find it for a better price used.

2. I guess not, since it's second hand.. I think GPU's usually have like 1 or 2 years of warranty, buuuut:

3. I dont think you can with no box...

I have a PC that now is about 13 years old that still has its functioning GPU.. My dad is using his 6 year old GPU still.. In my experience GPU's dont die very fast. Maybe with coin mining or generally just letting them run super hot this is different... but I dunno
