Help with Windows 10?

yrjosmiel73

So I've just build a new PC and purchased Windows 8.1 (because it's cheaper than 7 here). I upgraded it to 10. I have 2 problems:

1. How to change the user folder name?

2. HOW TO F***ING DELETE WINDOWS.OLD

Thanks!

This empty space is sure awkward^

2. HOW TO F***ING DELETE WINDOWS.OLD

this took 3 seconds to google

idk why you didnt do it yourself...but here it is

Here's the proper way to delete theWindows.old folder: Step 1: Click inWindows' search field, type Cleanup, then click Disk Cleanup. Step 2: Click the "Clean up system files" button. Step 3: Wait a bit whileWindows scans for files, then scroll down the list until you see "Previous Windowsinstallation(s)."Sep 8, 2015

I've already googled EVERYTHING. There is this one problem: there is no "previous windows installations"

I've done the command prompt thing. "Access denied". I ran cmd as admin. "access denied"

1. it's not that simple, you have to make a whole new account. i have researched this. i'm also in the same shithole.

by this i mean that you can't really change your C:/Users/Namehere/ name

Ah, didn't know that. Thanks.

Well, I can but it doesn't have the "previous installation" thing.

Do you have a Linux Live CD lying around? If yes, boot it and delete it there. If not, download an Ubuntu ISO, burn it to a CD, then do it.

Did you try rebooting after running disk clean-up(+Clean Up System Files+tick every check box in the list)? Because you'll need to if you want to get rid of it otherwise it will still be "locked".

As for changing the actual name, of the user folder, you cannot. The most you can do is create a new Administrator account, switch to it, and delete the old account.

Or you could just format and do a fresh install. As windows 10 is now activated, you won't need to enter a license key, if you get asked for it during installation, just "skip" it. Once you are connected to the internet, windows 10 will activate itself.
