Bought a new 8 gig ram and it didnt work on my pc

i did what ever it is i can think of- enter in all the slots i have, reset CMOS, changing voltage, changing frequency.

might be. there was also when my windows showed that the 8 gig was not in use out of all the rest i have!

If it has warranty on it or any proof of purchase of some kind try to get it replaced or looked at, seems DOA

That memory is not listed on the motherboards QVL or Qualified Vendors List. http://download.gigabyte.us/FileList/Memory/mb_memory_ga-x58a-ud3r_v2.0.pdf

 

Board says it supports up to 24GB of ram, and has 6 DIMM slots. I am going to assume 4GB sticks are the max it supports. According to that QVL list, it also confirms that theory. Sorry to say, but that ram simply won't work in that board.

Well many tells me G.Skill is good or DOA so I got a feeling you got the DOA ones but did you test both?

Probably something to do with how every single person in the thread blamed the memory being DOA, without a single person taking time into looking into the board, and seeing that it does not support 8GB sticks. For a tech forum, the advice given in this thread is pretty disheartening.

I was sure all i-series CPUs was able to handle it and that just Core2 ones had that issue!

welp i didnt need a new ram... i got a refund on what ai bought... apperently i needed a format to get it fixed.. thats all loool

 

the ram i bought was not suited for my MB specs as well.
