AMD announces HDR-support - waiting with new monitor buy?

cisto1999

so AMD announced to support HDR in 2016:

More infos here: http://wccftech.com/amd-bringing-better-pixels-to-pc-hdr-and-larger-color-space-to-consumers-10bpp/

Should i wait now to buy a new monitor (wanted to buy LGs 27MU-B or just buy it because it will last at least to mid 2017 until there are good and a large variety of panels on the market which support HDR?

(If they would produce finally an OLED-monitor panel... ).

It's a very small start to getting closer to the actual colour palette we are capable of seeing. From what I gathered on tftcentral we actually need about 7 different coloured LEDs to get to 99% of what we can perceive and at varying big rates dependent on the colour. 10 bit is a start but its still quite far from being indistinguishable from reality.

HDR is high dynamic range. it basically brings out colour detail ..more or less, an example would be where something is shrouded in shadow, with HDR it would bring out the detail within that shadow. More to it than that...best to research it urself.

Think of this this though.

21:9 40"-50" 5120x2160, 10 bit, OLED, HDR, 75hz, FreeSync.

God tier VDU right there... if bloody only :(
