How much is enough RAM

What are the "symptoms" of not having enough RAM? What problems might arise from lack of it?

Slowed down computer, programs starting up slower, shutting down slower, crashes etc.

naa joking, the pc slowing down normally, keep an eye on task manager at how much ram your averagely using. this will give you a rough idea

It should be fine in 32 bit, as only 3.5GB RAM should've been used iirc. May have been intensive background programs.

Both Win 7 64 & Win 10 64 produced exact same results.

Perhaps it's also hardware using different amounts of ram for allocation?

I was on a 7770 then. GTX 580 arrives in 2 days and I have my ram and new board.

You can pull up the task manger and check your ram usage at any time

Freeze's programs automaticly closing because Windows reserves it for RAM, dramatic slowdown FPS drops to almost 0 and more of that kinda stuff.

 

It really depends i don't have enough with 8GB because Google Chrome 120 tabs & background programs i reserve 8 for gaming or other use...

I need to mention though that no other games gave me problems with 4GB ram, not even GTA V.

8 is considered an absolute minimum in todays gaming and productivity world, with 16gb being more than enough for now.

With ddr3 being so cheap, I personally wouldn't recommend less than 16 these days.

Perhaps i'm even gonna upgrade my ram because i'm running tripple channel DDR3 16GB to 24GB because its cheap in my opinion.

Switching between Chrome/Opera/FF with 20+ windows open and a game BF4/WoT/WT/LoL/etc.
IF games loads few minutes, instead of few seconds, U have RAM shortage problem.
^SSD can mitigate this problem (but can't solve it).
