How to power a computer fan from the wall

Parts

  • a 12v wallwart type power supply
  • 4 or 3 pin fan extension
  • solder
  • soldering iron
  • heat shrink tubing

steps

identify your ground and your positive wires (happens to be black and yellow wire in a noctua extension)

then identify your ground and positive on your wallwart type power supply. an easy way to do this is just to attach it to the fan extension then plug a fan in and if it turns on you have got the wires right

just solder those two wires together and done. pretty simple  :D

(yes i noticed the pictures sideways)

Hey, I have the same soldering iron! (Although I don't own any extra tips for mine)

btw, an old molex to 3-pin fan adapter works too. I plan to use my adapter to make a fan tester

My procrastination is the bane of my existence.

I make games and stuff in my spare time.
