Sony Vegas Pro 13 Help..

PheonixOne

When i render a video in sony vegas its using almost 100% of my CPU, i understand this is probably a good thing since its using my CPU to its full potential, but since its not under a water cooler i dont want it hitting that percentage,

any ideas? is it worth upgrading to the i7? If i do ill be on a x99 board with the 5930k.

That doesn't make any sense - as long as the temps are under control it can sit at 100% all day long just fine, it being water cooled doesn't make any difference, and water cooling is not always better than air cooling - dont fall for that

To answer your question yes probably, if you want better performance in editing then upgrading will help

If you can't keep the CPU within spec at 100% then there is a serious problem with the build. CPUs are designed to run @100% there is no damage and even if it does overheat the CPU will throttle.

As a slight aside computers don't really run at 5% load. It's an average over time, its a really 100% for 50ms and sleeps for the other 950ms. Any task longer than about 30ms with have a modern CPU scale from 1200Mhz up to full boost clock to complete the task to run at 100% and then it goes back to sleep.
