Ok, So im going to need a new receiver, as my current one is just not cooperating, with the HDMI not really working properly.

What kind of budget would I be looking at for something that:

Has all binding posts. NO CLIPS, they are terrible.

Has 4K HDMI input, I want to be able to use high res video pass through

At least 5.1, more is better if I want future expansion

I would prefer a real aluminum front, but not needed.

I dont want to spend too much, but what should I be spending to get something good?
And any ideas on specific models?

How many benjamins are you going to spend?

Well, thats what I was asking. I usualy buy stuff used, but I want to know how much I will need to spend to get something good.

As my used stuff has had problems, and new stuff is always nice, and some of my lego sets retired, and I have an old phone to sell, so im getting a bunch of money now.

The Yamaha RX-V477 would be good if you can get one. It's discontinued but seems to be available on Amazon still.

So I should budget about 300-350$?

Ok, I can probably aquire that much money after selling my old phone and legos.

Now that doesnt have some fetures that my current onkyo has, but, I dont use any of thoes, like 7.1, bi amping, zone 2, ect.

You'll probably need to spend more to get those things, maybe a lot more. Shop around on amazon, Onkyo, Denon, both are good maunfacturers. Yahmaha has a whole product line of the RX-V recievers, there are more expensive ones with more features in the product line. This one seems to be the minimum that meets your needs.

Ok.

I think I'll also keep an eye out on craigslist. problem is most of them don't support 4k, but i can probably find one.

You need HDMI 2.0 with HDCP 2.2 for 4k 60fps, and about $1,000 if you want more than a single HDMI 2.0 input. As this suggests, most cheaper models ($800 and under) offer a single HDMI 2.0 input for 4k 60fps. Everything else will run at 4k 30fps. Chasing 4k 60fps is an expensive venture at the moment.

With that said, I also recommend the RX-v477. I own one for my home theater and it's pretty good. Good enough features without being overwhelming. It has an "extras bass" feature that pushes more to your subwoofer. Which means you can get your sub thumpin' no matter what input or source you're using (for example, games that don't support dedicated LFE channels). You also get 4k 30fps pass-through. I found mine for $225 new maybe six months ago. They are now discontinued and replaced with the 479 model. The 479 offers a single HDMI 2.0 input for 4k 60fps. But it's like twice the price.

Right now i just need to drive a 2560x1080 monitor at 6 hrz.

And i really only need one hdmi 2.0 input.
