How would you upgrade my rig?

xnoobftw

If the gaming Gods smile on me, a 390x. But probably a 390 to replace my 290.

Hmm but why so? There is barely any improvements from a 290 to a 390

Grab a 980Ti

I was thinking of that actually... But for 1080p a 980ti will be wayy overkill

The 980 Ti beats out the Titan X in benchmarks and compute performance. Plus, it's much cheaper. Should last you for quite a while

Ohhh okays. But it will last a hell of a lot longer than that 290x, even in CrossFire

Better HDD's. That's just my opinion, but Toshiba and Seagate aren't favs of mine. Other than that, nothing really. It all looks great.

I'm probably gonna make Captain_WD sad but Toshiba drives tend to be the best. This is coming from a guy who has an 8 year old Fujitsu (Fujitsu = Toshiba) laptop HDD.

Plus, if you ever upgrade to 4K, it will get the job done with little effort.

Hmmm why not wait it out with my 290x and then upgrade to 4k when single gpu performance is able to run ultra 60fps on 4k? :D

No more Vaporx 290s so I doubt they'll be able to replace mine, so they ether have to shaft me with a 390(which is comparable to a tri-X) or do the right thing and send me a 390x. Wish there was a Vaporx 390.

If anyone asks you never saw me.

Is vapor x superior to trix? My vrms gets pretty toasty during +100mV (around 90c)

My Vaporx never crossed 60c on the VRM using the stock fan curve. My Nitro 390 hits 90c. But the temps for the GPU itself are lower for the 390, so go figure.

Vapor x is defiantly better then... It looks like it's made for OCing

Definitely, the Vaporx Overclocked past the Nitro. Going to miss it. Plus the Vaporx is a much better looking GPU and had the logo that changed color with temperatures. That's why I'll be pissed if they try and give me a Nitro 390 for it.

Hmmm what brands do you recommend then?

Western Digital for HDD's and Samsung for SSD's. I'd also get a 500GB SSD - Samsung 850 Evo - or pro if you want, just because, more space = less games on HDD etc.

It runs at 3.5ghz.

Gets pretty hot because of poor tim.

The 4790(k) isnt more expensive and runs cooler (same ipc though)

i got the 4790 it runs most of the time at 70 degrees with watercooling (playing lots of KSP)

could boost the clock to 4.6 stable with a bluescreen every week but just after booting if you get through the first 2 minutes it will run weeks.

friend got the 4770 he got rid of the headspreader and made a watercooling mod there he invests like 700 bucks and got 4 degre yeah... and runs at 4.4
