R9 380 FX 6300 build

Hi friends,

I would appreciate some feedback on this build i'm planning.

Here's the part list: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/nwqmwP

Any obvious issues?

I'm also still looking for a ~24"/1080 monitor, any suggestions would be great!

Thanks!  :)

Other than the cpu (and possibly the case) I don't think anyone will find/point out any faults.

Edit: There are different preferences when it comes to SSDs too.

The biggest draw might be the cpu (in older games).

That CPU will not do you well, sorry.

If you want good performance and to not limit your GPU you must at least use an i5-4460 and the cheapest B85 board you can find.

The R9 380 is fine with a FX 6300.

If he bought just an i5 4460 alone, he'd be spending more than the FX 6300 and the motherboard combined.

No a low-end CPU on AMD GPU hardware will cause CPU overhead issues in most modern titles. Either change to Nviida, or get a better CPU. Even an i3-6100 is better.

If your overclocking your cpu. PLEASE DONT USE THAT MOTHERBOARD!

Get a MSI 970 Gaming, and something like a SPEC-02 to put in.

P.s. look at the build in my signature.

So why then in just a $600 gaming PC are you recommending people buy an i5-4460 in your sig if just the FX 6300 would work just fine?

Thanks for the quick replies!

The i5-4460 with B85 board will cost me about 30% more it seems, most people are of the opinion that the FX 6300 will be fine it seems.

Will look into the other PSU, thanks!

Sorry, I don't think I would want an i3 in a gaming rig, not to mention the i3 is not going to age well in newer games.

The Dell P2414H looks like it could be decent for 1080p gaming?

And?

Surely, if the FX 6300 would have no problems, the $600 build in your sig would use one.  But it doesn't.  So why is that?

The FX 6300 would have no problems, and there isn't one CPU to rule them all.

I'm not trying to hurt you first of all.

I simply would like to know.. is there a reason you recommended the 4460 in your $600 gaming PC where it is also paried with a 380?  I would assume you did it for improved performance and that you thought the 6300 would not allow the full performance of the GPU to shine.  Surely, if you thought it would not cause a problem, you would have recommended it because it is cheaper and would also perform better in multi threaded applications.  But I would have thought that for something called a "gaming pc" you may not have considered that.

A FX 6300 will not bottleneck a R9 380.

The i5 4460 is better in most cases, but the FX 6300 is cheaper and fine.
