Posted November 26, 2015 Hey guys, So with Christmas coming up I'm considering upgrading my GPU... this is my rig: CPU: i7-4790k MB: ROG Maximus VII Hero MEM: 16GB Vengence (1866Mhz) GPU: XFX Radeon R9 290 DD BE Is it worth getting a second 290, or should I hold out and save for something else? Posted November 26, 2015 I personally think getting a 980ti would be great. Also, I think a second R9 290 would just turn the PC into an insane heater, unless heat isn't an issue for you. Also, follow your own posts if you want notifications @seminaljim Contrary to popular belief, AMD cards are not heaters. (Exception being the ref. cooler 290) Although, would be quite the power draw, but hey, 295x2 performance mate.
 You can crossfire with an R9 390 also.
Posted November 26, 2015 Sell the 290 and get a Fury. If you can shill out some extra $, then a 980 Ti Isn't the fury beating the 980ti now with the driver updates?
Posted November 26, 2015 You can crossfire with an R9 390 also. True, but then he paid like $60 extra for 4gbs of vram he can't use.
Posted November 26, 2015 True, but then he paid like $60 extra for 4gbs of vram he can't use. No, that so not true. I bought a 390 to crossfire with my 290 because the 390 was 80 bucks cheaper. If anyone asks you never saw me.

Cuz my R9 290 can heat up my room damn nice. Maybe that's just because I have a small room though lmao https://pcpartpicker.com/user/Knaj/saved/cLQ8Mp
 Posted November 26, 2015 AFAIK they're not, but I haven't really looked into it. Can you give me a source? Well, more over the fury x, and it's beating the reference 980ti to be more exact. But it's still beating it: http://wccftech.com/amd-r9-fury-x-performance-ahead-nvidia-980-ti-latest-drivers/ There's a thread somewhere on the forum too about it. Posted November 26, 2015 Ironically I posted the thread I meant the Fury non-X. It's about the price of two R9 290s IIRC. Oh jeez that is ironic. Yeah, I always get the 2 confused. (I actually don't remember the difference between the 2)
Posted November 26, 2015 A 390 cheaper than a 290? K then. Price a Vaporx 290 and a Nitro 390. I paid 300 for the Nitro and the cheapest Vaporx I could find was 380 on Amazon.
