I am curious, what GPU does the iPad Pro use. I can't find much about it excelpt that it is a PowerVR 7 series GPU. Also, how much faster and future-proof will the A9X in the iPad Pro be than the A8X in the Air 2 for gaming?

The A9X is an APU. The GPU is built into the A9X. So, to find the information about the GPU you have to search for information about that A9X chip.

Well it is black friday coming up: should i get an ipad pro as the 128GB version is cheaper than the Surface Pro in the UK  and i do use my current (and broken) iPad 3 a lot in school

Or should i wait for the Air 3

For the price, I don't understand why any one would not get the Surface Pro over the iPad Pro, even if the Pro is a bit cheaper. For one thing, the iPad Pro is still running iOS so you're extremely limited as to what productivity applications you can use. If the iPad Pro was running OSX, then maybe I would recommend it, but as it stands now, no. For example, you won't have access to the full Microsoft Office Suite which when you go onto post secondary (college, university) is pretty much crucial to be able to do your work. Formatting options, integration between Excel, PowerPoint, Access, there are a lot of important features missing in iOS and even Android versions of the suite.

Apple does have a special section in the App Store for iPad Pro apps. However, as of right now, they are the exact same applications that people already used on previous iPads.
