Hey guys,

Today i used my computer (specs in sig) then i turned it off for about 30 mins to do homework.

Then i opened my computer and unplugged all my fans because i wanted to test if my computer would run at reasonable temps even without fans when browsing the web.

then i tried turning my computer on.

it didn't work. i click my power button and nothing happens.. is my psu smoked?

- Mikat

i tried: unplugging and repluggin front panel connectors

connecting my computer directly to the wall and not via a power bar

plugging in my fans again

replugging the 24 pin

my psu doesn't smell burned

i tried turning my pc on with the screwdriver (in my case case screw) method of putting it on the pwr pins, didn't work

nope, and that wouldn't make a diffrence, the computer doesn't do anything at all, not even the bios shows up on the screen, the fans dont spin.

That is weird. Was the PC grounded, were you grounded? You could have killed your MOBO by accidentally hitting one of its parts without you being grounded to it.

well when i took the side panel off my computer i touched it?

Did you manage to disturb any of the modular cables on your PSU?

If you are sure its fine you may have shorted something on the motherboard when fiddling around with the fan connectors.

You also have a great choice in case ;)

the psu isn't modular. (the only modular part is the part with sata power)

If im not mistaken the g450m is semi-modular, did you check the modular cables or are you just not using any of them?

i already checked everything i think

Hmmm. Check your RAM? If you bumped it and it popped out; even a little, it might cause a no start issue.

Your motherboard manual is useless for layout. Does the board have a green power LED? If so is it lit? I know it's a little patronizing but best to check the simple things first. Make sure the switch on the back of the PSU didn't get flipped by accident either.

Heh. PSU sudden death. Awesome.

Well as long as it didn't take anything with it, you should be up and running again quickly at least.

Couple of things I want you to try before going to bed and returning your PSU :P:

- Tried clearing your CMOS? (remove the battery, if you don't have a button for it (lol - ya don't, I do )

- Maybe try booting with your CPU fan unplugged, and then try again with it plugged in

- Reseat your graphics card/try without it (just give it to me, you don't need it anyways lol)

- Reseat your memory, maybe try with one stick in different slots, and give the other stick to me

- Like you already said, try with a different PSU, but maybe before that, try the parts that you CAN, in a different system, to try to make sure you don't destroy another power supply :P

(just so you all know, I know mikat personally, and I like nagging about his decisions :P if I looked like a ... here, I was lol, but I at least tried helping him :P)

If you come across some more problems, you might be able to test some parts in my computer(s). :)

PC SPECS: CPU: Intel Core i7 3770k @4.4GHz - Mobo: Asrock Extreme 4 (Z77) - GPU: MSI GeForce GTX 680 Twin Frozr 2GB - RAM: Crucial Ballistix 2x4GB (8GB) 1600MHz CL8 + 1x8GB - Storage: SSD: Sandisk Extreme II 120GB. HDD: Seagate Barracuda 1TB - PSU: be quiet! Pure Power L8 630W semi modular  - Case: Corsair Obsidian 450D  - OS: Windows 7
