I have a 970 and i use all of it, no bottle necks here. I highly doubt I'd neck a 980 too. You can pick up AMD chips cheap because people are selling them off and buying into the intel placebo effect.

The 9590 does not offer nearly enough benefit over an 8150 to justify the cost at all. But Intel provides much better minimum frame rates and overall performance across the board. So save up, DO NOT get the 9590, and switch to Intel unless Zen comes out and goes beyond the projected performance numbers (which are speculated to be about equal with Intel's Ivy Bridge, still 3 gens behind). Come on, Benji; stop deluding yourself.

Picking up an unlocked i5 system soon, I've used intel chips and seen barely any difference buddy. I'm not deluding myself at all.

on the first page you said to buy an intel processor you need to buy a new board. are you sure the 9500 will work on the board you have?  and no, i wouldn't buy it either. it's a matter of principal. it's a retro cpu. why beat a dead horse? if you want amd wait until next year to see what the new ones are capable of... as i sit here typing this on my amd dinosaur.

Mate ......I have a 8350 is OC by default at me  at 4.150 ghz and i have some issues at cooling it. at stock i can play CoD BO3 at 70 Celsius degrees with the stock cooler. but a friend have the same model clocked at 4.5Ghz and he can cool it down at 45-50 Celsius degrees in the same game with a noctua air cooler. i don't remember the bodel but was something with 2 fans it is pretty big )) so 9350 shoud be harder to cool down

whether upgrading from FX to haswell i5 is worth it however, THAT is a different question.

 

From FX to Skylake however, WILL be worth it. There is no question. Core vs Core there is a 80% performance difference....

Will find out for myself with continual use, but I doubt I'll notice, I can run a blind test too as my flatmate doesn't use PCs (shes playing bioshock on the 360 atm) and we'll see.

Your motherboard it probably throttling the CPU down to 1.6ghz due to thermals. Go into bios, then head over to CPU config and enable HPC mode it will turn off thermal throttling on the socket. IF you aren't having thermal throttling then you need to overclock more. You have the best board for the FX range, one better than mine and I'm at 5ghz on an FX8350, personally I'd love a 9590 to overclock like crazy.

if you are planning to go Haswell, no. you wont notice much.

 

skylake 6600k. Yes you will notice.

 

 

also, biggest difference between AMD and Intel, although this is more of a intel feature then a CPU performance thing... boot up times.

NEVER have i managed to get close to Intel system boot up times on ANY AMD setup. Irregardless of clockspeeds (we are talking stock FX 8320, FX 8320 running 4.52GHz, 7870k running 4.6GHz)

They do better but normally it cannot be noticed

They do get better scores in benchmarks but thats not y we use our PC's for

But that doesnt mean we should over look amd they give real 'value for money' cpu's

Amd innovates but never puts much work in developing and improving the tech

They make higher core cpu's but don't put much work in making them work at there best

Intels quad cores can sometimes wreck a 8 core amd cpu

Intel has hyper threading and other technologies to make there cpu's better

But amd are like "yay we made the first 5 ghz cpu now go buy it we dont care if it wrecks ur mobo or doesnt work that well"
