Fx 9590 .Should I buy it?

I have a crosshair v formula-z motherboard and was thinking to upgrade my cpu.

So i was thinking of buying fx 9590

But is it worth it?

To buy a intel cpu i have to buy a new motherboard so im just sticking with a amd cpu and i mainly game so i think i will be ok with an amd cpu

But my fear is that amd will release there new 'zen' cpu's (leaked info)soon and I'll be stuck with a last gen cpu and the newer once will be similar in price

Should but it or wait for few months?

Only buy it if you can keep it cool with a big cooler or even a CLC/AIO, your motherboard will be able to handle the power delivery.

No, get an Intel equivalent or better.

If you already have a motherboard and can't change to an intel board, make sure you have adequate cooling.

Main Rig:

i7 4790k @ 4.4GHz w/ H75 Liquid CPU Cooler - Asus Maximus VII Hero - 16GB G.Skill Triedent X 2133MHz RAM - 2x Gtx 660s in SLI - 120GB Crucial SSD - 1TB WD HDD NZXT Hue - K70 RGB Keyboard - Corsair Sabre RGB - Windows 8.1 - 2x Asus VN247H-P 1080p Monitors (I'm a sucker for lighting effects)

Server:

FX 8350 @ 4.0GHz w/ stock cooler - 8GB Crucial 1600MHz RAM - AMD Radeon HD 7450 GPU - 300W PSU - 120GB SSD - Windows 7

Its not worth getting its just a stock overclocked 8350 and Intel will have something better at that price point.

What CPU do you have now? 8350? See if you can overclock that thing as far as it can go. With a beefy cooler of course.

If you don't mind switching, I suggest sell your mobo + CPU and get an intel + mobo setup

Not seeing any references to facts or figures just posts with nothing to back them up.

For all intents and purposes, the most meaningful difference between the 9590, and 8350, is the design power specification itself, and how that effects APM and turbo management. The FX-8350 can not really be configured to run "like" a stock clocked 9590 on most motherboards, because it's not possible to deploy a turbo setting that high without a the high TDP envelope and associated APM behavior to support it. This does potentially offer some advantage in terms of fine tuning an overclock on the FX-9590, as implementing >5ghz turbo speeds while balancing in more conservative base clocks is actually feasible to strike a balance between highest possible single threaded performance, and base clocks that don't overheat under highly parallel workloads. For most users, this is really starting to get into a realm of splitting hairs though.

Overclock it further, it should be able to reach 4.5GHz fairly easily (though I can't guarantee this, take it with a pinch of salt).

Your motherboard it probably throttling the CPU down to 1.6ghz due to thermals. Go into bios, then head over to CPU config and enable HPC mode it will turn off thermal throttling on the socket. IF you aren't having thermal throttling then you need to overclock more. You have the best board for the FX range, one better than mine and I'm at 5ghz on an FX8350, personally I'd love a 9590 to overclock like crazy.

The intel processor's give good scores in benchmarks but are similar in gaming environment

WTF? You spend 250Dollar on a Motherboard, but go with an AMD- Processor?

In my experience with the 8350 and the 4790k my minimum FPS with the 4790k was much better.  Their averages may be similar, but I noticed a huge difference when switching from the 8350 to the 4790k.

Asking on this forum will just give you the same results, buy intel, why? because bias. Also be careful on what reviews you read, I keep seeing reviews with bullshit results or gimped testing methods that are unfair towards AMD.

Yes the CPU is old, but it can still game and do what you want. Zen comes out next year so you can either wait or buy a 2nd hand 9590 for a lot less than new. You already have the kit to run one so it's up to you.
