Hi everyone, so for the past week I have been experiencing problems with my Gigabyte windforce 970 card (non-G1 gaming edition) and I really have no idea what to do at this point. For example, I usually play battlefield 3 and 4, and while playing I have noticed that my fps has been really bad (I'm talking low 40's bad), and I have seen that the usage has been fluctuating a lot (anywhere from 40-99%). While my gpu is at 98/99% usage, I will be sitting around 115-120 fps without dips. However, as soon as the usage goes down to lets say about 40-50%, I will drop down to ~50fps, sometimes even low 40s. I know this is for a fact and not a coincidence because I will be looking at my monitoring software (HWmonitor) while this happens. It also happens in games such as CS:GO, where I should be hovering around at least 175+ fps, but instead will only be pushing 70-80, with dips into the 40's and 50's at times. I have a 75hz monitor that I know can be used to it's full potential, but at this point I'm getting very upset and frustrated. I have gone into all the power options in windows (performance), and have also gone into the nVidia control panel and have set in the global settings the power method to (prefer max performance instead of adaptive). If anyone knows what I can do, or have any suggestions I'd really appreciate it. It really feels shitty knowing that you payed $500 for a card that is performing like a budget gpu. Thanks in advance guys

Last clean install was about 2 months ago, when I bought a liquid cooler for the cpu and my ssd. I don't think it's anything with the OS because everything else works very well, all the programs I use (3dsMax, Photoshop, Illustrator, Unreal Engine 4, Maya, etc.)

Its more than likely the FX 6300 bottlenecking the GTX 970. With that CPU you shouldn't go above an R9 280 (with the FX 6350 its an R9 280X).

It can't be the cpu, I understand why you would say it might be the cpu bottlenecking, but if that's the case it doesn't make sense how my old 280x got a constant 70-80fps without dips or low usage like the 970 has been doing. I have also seen many people with the exact same setup (fx6300 (sometimes even at stock clock) and a 970) pushing a constant 80+ fps without a single dip below 70. My friend has a 6300 as well paired with a 770 and he has never had any performance issues with his card or his cpu. Don't want to sound arrogant or telling you you're wrong, I've just done a lot of trouble shooting and I know it's got to be something else.

The 280X is far closer to what the CPU can handle. Also the GTX 970 is far better than the GTX 770/680 and R9 280X. I am not wrong, I know the full capabilities of that CPU and being able to keep a gtx 970 under full load in all games without any issues is not one of those capabilities.
