Help on a Gaming PC Build

Ok guys I currently have a very old PC and when I say old, I mean it... It has Intel DG41WV Motherboard, 4GB DDR3, Core 2 Duo processor, that's it! nothing else. So I wanna upgrade to the following specs:-

MSI Z97 Gaming 5

Intel i7-4790k

MSI GTX 970 4g

Corsair Water Cooling H100i

Corsair Carbide Series Air 540 - High Airflow Mid Tower

Corsair power supply based on how big of a power supply required

If you guys have suggestions let me know.

But that's not the actual question.

I'm low on budget so I will have to be saving up for everything on my own and that's gonna be tough given the fact that my parent are not helping me with this and so its gonna take some time to complete since the build is a bit expensive for me. So I was wondering if I can buy the MSI GTX 970 4g from the new build and use it on my old PC.

Any suggestion is appreciated. :)

gtx 970 + Core 2 duo will bottleneck

and for the new build

an xfx 550w will be perfect, its relatively cheap and great quality

and for CPU go with an i5, cheaper and VERY similar performance in games

That's an excellent build value

H100 is overkill, you'll do fine with a Hyper 212 (I know it's not the best, but its VERY good value for performance)

Also i5-4690k is very similar in performance, for a lot cheaper and the i7 will not be needed with that graphics card - the card will bottleneck it

Finally, stay away from Corsair CX/CS power supplies

As for your ACTUAL question, the core 2 duo will be very limiting to the 970 or any other such high-end card, it will be bottlenecked severely and it will be the same as using a GT610 for example

So save yourself the trouble and buy a £30 GT610 until you make this build.

Go with an i5 for the same performance in games and use the extra money to get a better gpu

Very good build also

Corsair CX/CS PSUs = ruined PC

They have chinese-made capacitors, which someone could have made in their house with a bit of glue and metal...

However AX and other models of Corsair PSUs are very high quality

That PSU is also crap. And 390 would be better :)

It will be fine for his build, I believe

As for the 390, I don't know that's up to him however I would always go with the Nvidia equivalent UNLESS an AMD equivalent is outright battering the Nvidia one
