I'm a student at UNLV and last year I decided to return back to computers. I built my first one when I was 10 or 11. My current "rig" is an Athlon X4 760K with a R7 260X, I'm still on a budget. I got a tip from a friend that I could crossfire my gpu with an apu, but I'm a little confused to what that all means. From what I know it's basically utilizing one gpu with another to boost performance, but I'm a little worried about compatibility issues, bottlenecking, and absolutely wrecking my wallet. Thanks and Ad Victoriam wastelander.

Ninja-Edit: forgot to change the title, to something less broad. Oops.

no, you cant. tell your friend he is drunk.

you can only do that with up to an r7 250

My rig: r7 1700 @ 3.9/1.35v, 16gb ddr4 3200, assorted rando SSDs, hx 1050, vega 64 1650/1025

I wouldn't bother with crossfire/SLI whatnot anyway. The money you are spending could go into just getting a better GPU and even then you're lowering temperature of the GPU and honestly going to make it easier on yourself.

[spoiler=Current Rig] N/A

Its not worth it to crossfire,u also get driver issues.

Ill suggest u sell ur 260x and get a gtx 960/380x or 280x/290 for 150-250

We are half-hearted creatures, fooling about with drink and sex and ambition when infinite joy is offered us, like an ignorant child who wants to go on making mud pies in a slum because he cannot imagine what is meant by the offer of a holiday at the sea. We are far too easily pleased.”

That might mean getting a new motherboard and (maybe) a new cpu if the board is old or low quality though if he goes with nvidia
