good console killer ?

so my friend has a i5-750 and mobo laying around (i currently have it as a place holder until my z97 mobo gets back from rma) i can get a 8gb kit of samsung memory, i have a spare hdd, and he also has a gtx 650 laying around, if i were to get these off him for a decent deal and find a decent psu for cheap, i could have a system fo probably 200-250 cad with steam os that has an  i5-750, 8gb of ram,  gtx 650, 250gb hdd, and custom case, would that be something worth doing as a secondary build/steam machine ?

steam os is decent, and ya just looked at benchmarks its a pos, good for a steam in home streaming tho, play fallout 4 maxed out on my 55 inch tv with surround sound downstairs would be pretty decent

Steam link doesn't run games on it's own. It streams them from your PC. So you're going to need a decently powered PC in the first place to even use the Steam Link.

Imho getting only the mobo and processor would be your best bet. You can get a 960 or 380 for under 200 US (idk about cad) and a decent power supply. Ram should t be that expensive either. The question still is? Do you want it for dedicated gaming? Streaming? Or whatever? I haven't yet heard the purpose of this build yet other than secondary PC.

You want console killer? Try $320 total budget, and managing to get 8gbs of ram, a 7950, and a 4690k along with everything else fitting into that budget.
