Which of the two for my monitors?

Hi guys,

 

I'll soon be upgrading to a triple 27" setup which'll mean that I'll need a stand as my minuscule desk won't have enough space for 3 full monitors. I've done a fair bit of research for candidates of which 2 remained:

 

http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B007BD0MPM/ - The Ergotech stand Linus did a review a while back

 

http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00OZWLW42/ - Or Duronics' gas powered variant which is almost half as expensive 

 

Any suggestions as to which will be better in the long run or is the an alternative? (UK stores please)

The duronics are based on a pneumatic cylinder, so they will last forever and ever. They're similar to SpaceCo monitor arms, so I would definitely say go for those.

Just by the looks of it alone the first one looks 10 times as strong

The problem is I am unsure how long my desk will hold with that clamp. With the weight of three PG279Q's hanging over, I am concerned.

What sort of desk do you have? Is it a cheapo Ikea job that's made of a couple of MDF boards or...?

Cheapo IKEA. MDF probably.
