What is it being used for? Also pretty sure the FX series doesn't have IGPU's so this thing would literally not display anything on screen.

Please use https://pcpartpicker.com/ but that build shouldn't be too bad but where is the GPU? And i'm sure people have better builds.

This build is much better for > 400

My i5 6500 is bad and can't even maintain 4.5ghz, and 4.4ghz causes it to slowly become unstable over weeks with a vcore of 1.395. FML

If your not going to get a dedicated gpu I suggest you do a slim profile case build using an ITX mobo.

Your chosen cpu will not support the in board integrated graphics.

Thanks :) I'm surprised I could get a 950 into 400$ probably due to the drop in the G3258's pricing.

The build I have, with the G3258 and GTX 950 kick any games ass at 720p and a far more than capable at 1080p.

so... i'm gonna pitch a rather crazy idea.

http://pcpartpicker.com/p/vJPNt6

- intel pentium, cheapest on the list.

- decent motherboard

- 8GB ram, ram is ram.

- 2TB seagate barracuda

- GT740 yes it's shit, i'll explain myself later on, keep on reading.

- cheapo case

- seasonic 620 watt power supply

now, for the explanation why i'm recommending a rather poopy build.

the cost comes in at just under 350 dollars, sitting at the low end of your budget.

it contains the basics: a decent motherboard, enough ram, decent hard drive, decent power supply.

the CPU, GPU and case are temporary, to be replaced.

i'm gonna get hate for the GT740, but -speaking from experience- if you know how to treat the cards, and what settings to turn down, they're pretty capable, and actually more capable than similarly priced AMD cards. (dont trust on benchmarks here - with the game maxed out these cards are a joke, but the low end nvidia cards do really well when turning the right settings down. and from my experience they do better than the amd equivalents.)

over time, you'll be upgrading this computer in pieces.

- first you replace either the CPU or GPU, depending on how GPU heavy your pick of games are, and the amount of CPU cores they can utilize. the one you dont replace first, is gonna be replaced second.

(probably gonna be upgrading the cpu to i5 or i7 (or xeon), and the gpu to whatever you please. hang onto the GT740 as a testing card, trust me, it'll come in handy one day)

- after those two are replaced, you throw that crappy case in the trash, or hang onto it for a side project.

(by now you also have a pentium laying around, may build a home server or media center with those)

- as a finisher, you buy an SSD, i'm not gonna recommend a size or brand, because we're talking a while in the future here, and SSDs are going crazy right now.

rinse and repeat for infinity. once you get a solid base you can continue upgrading. i suggest upgrading in the following groups:

- cpu and motherboard go together, new generation of cpu means a new motherboard, and in some cases new ram.

- storage gets added "as needed" between the cycle, since this is one of the cheapest and easiest upgrades to do. combine boot drive replacements with OS upgrades/reinstalls.

- GPU gets replaced as you find it no longer providing the "oomph" your games require, and PSU goes along with that if its not capable of delivering the juice.

- case gets replaced when its banged up and worn out. these are excellent xmas gifts to ask.

PS: DONT get the GT610, trust me, its hilareously slow, even compared to the GT740 thats mere pocket change more expensive.

well, my pick starts you off with a better motherboard, potentially better cpu, better gpu and better power supply.

the seasonic PSU will last you years, while the CX PSUs are.. very much a temporary solution.
