Alright so i know that most people use spray paint for their pc modding and i will be too but for the detailed designs i wanted something more along the lines of paint and a paint brush. But not knowing to much about paint i cant seem to find the right kind that would work as well as spray paint and would be usable with a brush. Acrylic paints don't seem to work from what i have read and with ny own testing they proved to scratch off very easy though i tried it without sanding and priming the case so that could have something to do with it as well. So basically what kind of paint will work for me? Thanks a lot guys!

Plastidip?

Isn't Plastidip a spray-on applicant?

Don't be fooled by the bottom line of my sig, that is just for my travels.

So you're telling me that Gaben is no God? Enough of your foolishness.

My hardware you ask? I'm using a Dell Inspiron 3217 Notebook... With an LG 25UM57.

For general inforamtion on painting and plasti-dip I have a post here on it:

In terms of what paint to use for brush painting though something like a metal paint from rustoleum or Tremclad work well, you will need a primer if it's bare metal but if it's just re-coloring something you can directly paint over it with some prep work.

What are you planning to paint as of right now

you can spray plastidip into something and put it on by brush

it will look painted on rather than uniformly sprayed on, but it should still look ok

plastidip was originally made to be "dipped" hence the name, because you were supposed to dip stuff into a pot of plastidip

they just put it in spray cans to make painting large areas easier

also there are a bunch of colours, red green, blue orange, fluorescent colours, clear primer, etc...

Just all sorts of computer cases and in terms of designs im not sure yet i was thinking to start i want to do something with rainbow stripes so it would be like, 3" wide of each color in rows next to each other which i know i could do with spray paint but i would only me able to do one strip at a time and wait until the other is dry then mask it off with painters tape and paint the next row and so on.

So would there be a way to take the top of the can off or something like that and then i could dip the brush in the can and paint that way?

uh, you cant really open compressed spray cans...they kinda blow up and kill you

i think you can spray it into a container and then paint from there (double check with google first that you can do this with spray paint) or just buy a non-aerosol plastidip can, the big type that has a top that opens

Well that would be a similar setup with brush painting to get nice sharp and crisp lines, it would require masking for each color. If your planning to do a lot of stuff like this have you considered airbrushing it can let you layer paints and do a lot of detailed artwork if that's also something your wanting to do.

What Enderman was referring to is spraying the paint or plasti-dip onto a surface and using a brush to dip into that and apply it via brush to your work piece.

I found an article pertaining to painting using plastidip and a brush, but I'm not so sure if you want to read it or not.

I have consider an air brush but i dont know much about them so using one seems difficult, are they expensive, and don't you need a large room that doesn't matter to you with proper ventilation?
