When you post a hot deal and someone out hot deals you. Damn..

I'm just glad i hadn't bought it already! I'm always down for a better deal

Hopefully those aren't over stocked 2013/2014 ones. Tiger Direct probably has those, and the 1 and 2 tb models from that time frame have high failure rate. So, buyer beware.

i thought it was just the 3tb that had the issues. Good to know

All drives fail.

What is the time frame? We need a time frame for a failure to mean anything.

It's like saying a cooling fan is loud at xx dB without a distance.

There's a lot of amazon reviews about them dying in days to six months, and it's a lot.  Some/less of that frame survived longer or are still alive.  It's not like every single one does, but more do than less.  They fixed the issue in late 2014 though iirc.

Meh.  I think I'd want more to go on that just some random guy named "niels" that just happens to know how to write in paragraph form with "updates."  He even calls his own review anecdotal.

That's far from scientific.

If a failure is counted when a drive is in its warranty period, I'd consider that fair, though.
