Here's my tip - don't buy dedicated computer speakers.  Get a stereo amp, something like a Lepia 2020A for $20 or something SMSL offers.  Then get whatever speakers you want.  Bookshelves speakers will put out some bass and you can forgo a sub, or go for smaller satellite speakers and get a separate sub to go with it.  You'll pay less and everything will sound better, and if something does malfunction you can replace that one thing instead of tossing everything which is what you'll probably have to do with your Logitechs.

Check out this guys recommendations and reviews on YouTube.  I think I'm going to get 2 center channel speakers (Micca MB42-c) because their shapes are more convenient for my desk.  Haven't decided on the amp yet but I'm leaning towards the SMSL SA36.

BTW I have a Logitech THX 2.1 system about as old as yours that had an outside control module that controlled power and volume.  Started out hearing crackling out of one of the speakers, then the module literally disintegrated.  I still don't understand it, the only I ever did was turn the volume knob.

ok. i was going to get get a 500gb nvidia shield but i guess i need new speakers. have any tips for 300-?

i found this http://www.lg.com/us/home-audio/lg-BH5140S-home-theater-system

You could spend $20 on some cabling, and take the speakers apart and replace the cable. That would definitely save you money.

Hey! New SIgnature!

I'm supposedly a person on the Internet, but you'll never know if I'm human or not ;)
