Will someone tell me if this is a good idea for a $1,100-$1,200 Build?

Looks good to me, but out of curiousity, why not skylake?

edit:

No CX series, 390x > 980, Samsung SSD because high end. WD blue is fine, but black is preferable. everything else was okay.

DON'T get that power supply. Also that SSD is very slow. Get any SSD from Crucial or Samsung- an 850 Evo or a BX100 maybe?

Edit: get the build suggested above^^^^

OK, 3.5 things wrong with this:

#1 CHANGE THAT PSU IMMEDIATELY, CX PSUs have reputations involving literal fire.

#2 R9 390x or the R9 Fury are both better than the GTX 980

#3 Swap that SSD to the 850 EVO

#3.5 i recommend a higher end motherboard, this board is fine (i have it), but i wish i got a gaming 5 board

I am not sure how good the SSD is, I like crucial's.

I personally go with 16GB of ram but that can be add later, and I don't see anything wrong with what you picked besides get a faster speed like 1866 or 2133.

at that price point I would go with a AMD GPU.

Better single threaded performance than devil's canyon plus not on a dead socket.

Is a 390x really better than a 980 though?

No, it's just a slightly better deal and can benefit you if you are playing games at higher resolutions.
