Need help deciding on Headphones.

So I am probably going to be buying a Blue Snowball mic, because I am tired of buying headsets and having them break on me. Anyway, because I am getting a stand alone mic, I am looking to get some headphones so that I don't bother other people while playing games or listening to music. I was hoping to get some ideas for the best possible headphones for $100 or under. They will be used 80% for gaming and 20% for music and movies. I am not super picky to how I like my audio. Thanks for the help!

I just got my krk kns6400 in the mail today and I quickly learned that they are a very quiet pair of headphones. Is that what flat means? I read that a lot about these headphones. Anyway, is there anyway to make them louder? I have, on my taskbar, the headphones turned up to 100% and they are not that loud.

you could give the new cans a "burn in" to loosen up, just let your headphones play for a few days or a hundred hours or so. some people believe in it some people don't. or try plugging it directly into the rear plugs and not the front panel?

flat pertains to the sound signature not the output volume

Listen to Aphexx.

Burn in your cans at about 30%-50%-80% volume for at least 50 hours and always try to use the rear audio ports.

Pink noise is OK, but I think Dubstep does a better job for burning. Also there are most likely some options in there somewhere to increase the output (Realtek HD Audio Manager has some nice little things inside)

Sorry, pink noise?

Basically a sound where each octave outputs a differing level to give a linear response.

@Wats - Dubstep will do better because burning in is aimed at causing movement in the LF coil sub 250 cycles where dubstep happens to also be predominant. You can't burn in anything and expect changes over about 400hz so pink noise is fairly useless.

you probably wont need 50 hours. i just left my headphones playin over night at a low volume. burn in hasnt been proven to work but there are some theories that support burn in. to each their own though. over time, your ears will enjoy them more and more. thats what really matters
