Rendering/editing dont get AMD. Go for an i5 atleast.

EDIT: to save even more money (compared to buying an i7) and get good value, go even for a Xeon processor, theyre similar to an i7 but without the iGPU. Youd need to get a basic GPU, so maybe just grab like a GTX 750(ti), which will also give him some basic access to CUDA.

I have a good reason to suggest them. For any workstation activities Intel is ALWAYS the better option. AMD cpu's are outdated and dont offer the same quality for money as Intel do these days.

@CamThaaMan

If you're doing lots of editing tasks I would just get an Intel... Most benchmarks show an i5 4690K being ~10% faster at stock vs a Stock 8350. But...

Now is a bad time to get Editing builds at that budget, since the supply of 4th Gen Xeons is low (They're no longer being made, thus high price), and 6th Gen Xeons aren't out yet (Coming soon hopefully).

If you could I would wait a few Weeks for the Replacement to the 1231v3.

Ignore I have no idea what I'm talking about, get this build, or wait for Skylake Xeons.

The thing is, you are comparing a $265AUD CPU and a $365AUD CPU.

Not saying you don't, and you're right.

I'm just basically conditioned to expect any AMD CPU builds to end up with...well...Intel. Not without reason, mind, but it's kinda predictable at this point.

... And? It can still be achieved on this budget...

Not to mention a Xeon can achieve a better gain at a (Possible) lower price.

Yeah, I only titled this "AMD Build" is because my friend started an amd part lists and I said "maybe you should just start with intel since its more popular and better than amd" so yeah, lol sorry for misleading title.

If he can put it in his budget it is fine.

But don't try and bend the facts.

The i5 4460 and FX 8350 are very similarly priced and preform also basically the same.
