You can't

You have to pay $$$$ to the copyright holders

This is really tricky as this is a company based situation where the variables always matter. Anything by Viacom, for example, will probably get you a copyright strike if it's taken down and not hidden.

1) dont use copyrighted music

2) the people that do use copyrighted music have PAID the creator for the right to use it

3) some people pitch bend the music to prevent it getting detected which is illegal and can get your channel deleted if they find you

4) if you use less than 15-20 seconds of copyrighted music it is fine, you wont get copyright claims

That is not true or legally binding, just FYI, especially if somebody for example used it as their intro or something

There could still be legal issues

That is bad advice, 99.9% of all copyright claims made on youtube are done by Bots who detect a few seconds of copyright music and automatically issue a claim

No, I know how the bots find music

15-20 seconds is too short for them to detect any matches

I tested this with over 30 copyrighted songs in a video, and 0 copyright matches (except for one which was about 25 seconds long, I had to remove that)

Yes but you can be manually targeted

Copyright companies don't go around to peoples videos submitting claims

That's what the bots are for

The only thing that they might look for are reuploads of the original song that has been pitch bent

Then they will youtube the song and find people who have uploaded it

But if you're using 15 seconds for an intro to a video that's absolutely not related to the song its literally impossible for them to find you, unless you're a huge youtube channel and the creator of the song is subscribed to you

But I highly doubt OP has even a few thousand subs

Not saying its likely, just that its possible, if OP wants to risk legal issues he can do what he wants

you can always acknowledge a claim and have no legal issues

or you can remove the copyrighted audio and make the claim go away instantly

Hard to remove the audio from a video as you cannot edit or re-upload once done

But yes you can acknowledge the claim and lose monetisation

OR just dont use copyright music :D

You can "remove copyrighted music" at the press of a button on youtube

it takes the song out but leaves any commentary or other audio that is not the copyrighted song

Anyone that has copyrighted music in their video has one of the following:

1. A license to use the music

2. A managed channel status and because Content ID doesn't run on managed channels, it has not been picked up manually yet

3. Content ID has not detected something because of a technical reason on an affiliate channel, it has not been picked up manually yet

The only legitimate way to use it is to get a license, e.g. Monstercat offer their $14.99 /month offering which includes all their music.

Expert procrastinator.
