I want to buy Blue yeti USB, do I need a soundcard for it? or what do I need for it to work properly, people told me you'd need bullshit like AMP

motherboard - Asus sabertooth fx 990 r2.0

It connects via USB, you cannot use it with a soundcard or amp or dac - it is USB only (unless you buy the Pro which uses XLR)

All of its audio processing is done internally on its own USB soundcard

(personally I think there are better mics for voiceover work but its not a bad mic either)

Desktop - Corsair 300r i7 4770k H100i MSI 780ti 16GB Vengeance Pro 2400mhz Crucial MX100 512gb Samsung Evo 250gb 2 TB WD Green, AOC Q2770PQU 1440p 27" monitor Laptop Clevo W110er - 11.6" 768p, i5 3230m, 650m GT 2gb, OCZ vertex 4 256gb,  4gb ram, Server: Fractal Define Mini, MSI Z78-G43, Intel G3220, 8GB Corsair Vengeance, 4x 3tb WD Reds in Raid 10, Phone Oppo Reno 10x 256gb , Camera Sony A7iii

Any suggestions on mics for around 100-150$?

Hello! Fortunately I've been doing research for myself and I'd be keen to share, in certain countries the AT2020 and RODE NT USB is in your price range, they're both usb (might need to type in "rode nt usb" in case u get the xlr version)

The blue yeti is very flawed and you can hear your background noise a little too clearly for anyone's needs, unless you can afford to pad your room with foam then I'd suggest the AT2020 or rode nt usb.

You know the AT2020 and the Blue Yeti are almost identical right? So to say one is way better then the other means you must not know what you're talking about.... Just get whichever one is on sale really both are great mics. They use the same microphone type and have around the same specs/features, you would probably want to add a scissor arm while you're at it as well as a pop filter I found them to make a great difference when I'm recording.

Intel Core i7 7770K | 32 GB's Ram 3000MHz | GTX 1080 Ti | 250GB SSD | 3TB 7400 RPM | Sound Blaster Z | ASUS ROG MG278Q | Razer Blackwidow Chroma | Final Mouse 2015 | Blue Yeti | Seinheiser HD 600's | Beyerdynamic DT 990 Pro | Aune T1 MK2

And the blue yeti picks up a lot more background noise then the AT2020, additionally the AT2020 is used by many famous you tubers and gives your voice a more appealing sound, I'd do my research before I try and call out somebody, type up a comparison of the two and you'll see.

The Blue Yeti is used by arguably more "famous" youtubbers, and trying both there both about the same..... I would even prefer the Blue Yeti over the AT2020 because of the Blue Yeti's extra features..

I guess it comes down to opinion, although I would rate the RODE NT USB over both.

the only question I have is, does the Rode NT-USB pickup any unnecessary background noise like the blue yeti does? because my pc hard drive is a bit loud and i'm worried if there would be sound from it.

ill answer this for you, the RODE NT USB microphone is a really good mic, don't expect a fanfare to be going on outside and the mic not to pick it up, compare it to other mins and yes; it doesn't pick up much background noise at all, try running the audio through a audio editing program to remove any other unnecessary noises.

Hope this helped.
