People will not care until government physically obstructs and abuses them in the most direct way possible. By then, it's too late, and it would be better for everyone in the long run if society were to break down entirely.

 

Know what they call a government who breaks the law in an emergency? A dictatorship. Know what they call a government that breaks the law regardless of what state the world is in, in the shadows, with no public input, approval or moral backing? A Plutocracy. And that word by itself should scare the hell out of anyone who hears it uttered. But that's what has happened.

Or just eliminate the loop holes all together, tell the giant corporations to f**k off, and also require that a percentage of their profit margins be divided equally amongst their employees. That way NOTHING they do can make them more money, without making more for their employees. They can up prices, but then if profits go up, so does the money their employees receive from the profit margin.

 

This has the advantage over minimum wage, because when you raise minimum wage companies just raise prices to offset that extra cost.

Sadly, we are the minority. Especially on forums like LTT. You wouldn't believe how many people, even moderators, who sit there and defend companies like Microsoft, when they are blatantly spying on the population, probably on behalf of the NSA.

 

That particular reason is why I don't spend nearly as much time on here as I used to. Now I just lurk and see what is going on, but thats about it. (again, compared to how much I used to post)

These politicians have a god complex. I'm convinced that they do. They think that they're invincible, and that the ship they control is too big to sink. Otherwise they would look at a history book or a historical record and know that every civilization, EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM that went down the road that America is going down now, collapsed and burned, and resulted in the deaths of millions of people. It always happens. In a society run by fallible people corrupted by greed and lust for money and power and the dominion over others, everyone suffers and dies. Every. Single. Damned. Time. And when all of this ends, when the system crumbles, and the masses' eyes are opened, and they see what the people in charge have done, all the murder, destruction, and pointless waste of life that they have effected... the politicians will raise their hands and say "We were only trying to help and protect you!"

 

But this time, we the people will not be apathetic.

Oh, I know how many. I've seen it here too. It is everywhere I go (except Tek Syndicate isn't infected as much), and it frightens me. Especially when it comes from Americans. 1984 is an entirely viable future for us and no one cares it is, or believes things can't get worse or that the things they support despite admitting to being wrong couldn't get worse—like picking between the lesser of evils...

The people never are, and in most cases, they end up becoming the same thing. (the USSR resulted in an overthrow of an "empire" and ended up becoming WORSE than said empire.

 

Greed isn't necessarily and evil, in MODERATION. I like to think of it as capitalism fueling socialism. Companies are made up of people, those people should all receive an equal share in the profits of a corporation. Not just  the scraps handed down by the corporate masters, who do absolutely NOTHING by comparison.

 

We need to give a true democracy a chance. With the advent of the internet, we actually have the possibility for that to be a reality.. Something that has NEVER existed before in human history.

 

I would implement it with....basically, what we have now, but a fourth branch. A branch where the entire population has to ultimately approve ANYTHING the other three branches do. The only exemptions being emergency actions. TRUE emergencies.
