My dad is the type of person who will click "ok" and "next" on absolutely everything he sees on the internet. This is both good and bad, because i get paid for cleaning it up once a week but its incredibly annoying.

My question: Is there any way to "lock down" his computer so he cant install every toolbar under the sun? (im serious, there is a good 3in of toolbars).

I tried installing Ad-block so he cant see ads, and iv tried disabling updates for adobe and java and everything else so they cant advertise either. But somehow, he still manages to get it so loaded with malware and viruses that it wont work right by the end of the week.

Is there a way to roll his computer back to a system image every night? and have all his documents on Google Drive or something? Im getting tired of dealing with it.

Thanks

~Judah

Why would you complain about getting paid for such an easy job? Anyway, have you tried educating him about the internet and what not to click?

haha mate, this actually made me LOL My girlfriend's mum does exactly the same thing apparently but it's actually like every few months not a week! I just sorted hers out a couple weeks ago D: hahha XD Umm I suppose making a Restore point would be good for him, as a restore point doesn't delete files but does go back on software installations... Someone tell me if I am wrong though!

At my school they use something called DeepFreeze and every time the computer is rebooted it reverts any changes that were made. You might also want to give him a guest or limited account.

This. It was used at my old high school too, and works well.

It "deletes" files, apparently, or rather, file references. Basically how a regular delete works (the file still exists if you know how to find it, just appears to be gone).

I doubt he's getting paid for it. I don't know about you, but charging your parents just doesn't work when you live in their house.

I get paid to do stuff around my house. Not stupid stuff like dishes but like stuff that takes a bit of effort time and concentration I get payed for. So its not that strange maybe you have just never been in that situation.

The way i explained it to my parrents:

"you cant fix it, and it cost $50 at the repair shop. Ill fix it for $10"

I dont deserve it seeing as they are already providing food and housing. Buy hey, if they want to give me money ill take it.

Ill remove admin rights, that should do the trick.
